This is the fifth annual Golf Fore Kids Tournament in support of the children of Tanzania, Africa. It just keeps getting better and better! This year, $2,000 was raised, which becomes $8,000 after factoring in the government matching.
Following are some photos from this year’s event.
It all started in 2009 when Barry Finlay and his son Chris climbed Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. With the help of events like this golf tournament, they have raised over $100,000 to build a classroom and drill a well at a primary and preschool in Mwanza, Tanzania and for their latest project.
Having completed the first two projects and continuing with the view that education is the key to solving many of the world’s problems, the focus is now on helping young women and youth in Tanzania build sustainable businesses that will allow them to lift themselves out of the cycle of poverty by being able to pay their rent, buy groceries and send their children to school.
Join us at this fun event and help the young people of Tanzania. Net proceeds of the tournament will be directed by Plan International Canada to the Finlay’s new project. The federal government has committed to contributing $3 for every $1 raised for the project.
